The Toronto Good Neighbours Campaign began in response to community concerns about pollution and emissions from industry in Scarborough. Odour, litter, particulate and noise pollution concerns about Atlantic Packaging.

• March 19, 2010 - TEA sends a letter to Atlantic Packaging explaining the Good Neighbours Campaign and community concerns
• March - April 2010 - TEA distributes flyers to residents neighbouring Atlantic Packaging's 111 Progress Ave facility
• April 2010 - Atlantic Packaging sends letters to neighbouring residents: April 18, April 27
• May 4, 2010 - First community meeting held at Birkdale Community Centre
• May 7, 2010 - Atlantic sends letter to neighbouring residents: May 7
• May 12, 2010 - TEA's Good Neighbour Coordinator meets with Atlantic Packaging
• May 30, 2010 - Atlantic sends letter to concerned residents on odour audit results so far: May 30
• June 1, 2010 - Good Neighbour community leaders hold a strategy meeting
• June 15, 2010 - Residents lead an 'Odour Walk' tour in the neighbourhood
• June 29, 2010 - Second community meeting held at Birkdale Community Centre
• June 1-30, 2010 - Residents track odours and noice concerns for the month of June. See the results here.
• July 12, 2010 - TEA submits June 'Concerns Calendar' results to Atlantic Packaging
• July 29, 2010 - Councillor Thompson holds public meeting with Atlantic Packaging

"This company has long been a source of a foul odor around the Midland /Ellesmere area. Their trucks are a regular sight speeding down Midland Ave and Midwest Road. Noise from the plant is also a concern. I was disappointed to learn that they want to increase these activities. "I would like to state that we have noticed an increase in the noise level from this factory for a few years now as well as an increase in unpleasant odours...  If the window is open, the noise is very noticeable and it is difficult to ignore. I don't feel that we should have to close our windows in order to block this noise so that we can sleep... The odour from this plant is also obnoxious and unpleasant.  Three or four days a week there is a sulphur smell (like rotten gas) in the air... The smell is worse the closer you get to the plant and is usually overpowering on Progress Avenue between Midland and William Kitchen Drive.  While driving this road it smells like an extremely polluted river."
